Vol. 15 interlude (sometime in Years 3–5 after the transfer, exact time unknown): inner-circle members of the undead magic caster society "Corpus of the Abyss", dominated by a mysterious powerhouse called "That One", met secretly to plot rebellion.

Corpus of the Abyss is a loose society formed to keep undead magic casters from fighting over knowledge; initially it had only 4 Night Liches and 3 Elder Liches, and nearly 400 years later its inner circle had grown to 9.
By the Vol. 15 interlude the organization was dominated by "That One", a being of overwhelming power who calls tiered magic "filthy" yet exploits the Corpus of the Abyss's research.
One reason the inner circle outwardly obeys is that they thought That One could serve as a deterrent against this world's strongest beings; but they judged that That One intended to use the organization to stir up turmoil in the center of the continent.
The inner circle decided the Corpus of the Abyss was not a force to be lent out for "those ones' pact", so they plotted rebellion, preparing to build a "deterrent" against That One.
"Abyss" Banezeri Anchas used teleportation twice in a row to arrive first at the mountain castle of inner-circle member "Red-Eyed Duke" Krunui Log Entesh Na, proposing they talk once "White Saint" Granz Locker arrived.
Granz was the first Night Lich to reach 8th tier; as of Vol. 15 she was aiming for 9th tier and was favored by That One.
As of Vol. 16 the rebellion has not been put into action, and its outcome is unknown (unverified).

Notes

Sources speculate that the "secret society" the Undying King Davernoch never managed to find is the Corpus of the Abyss. Inner-circle epithets revealed in Vol. 15: "Abyss", "White Saint", "Death Rider", "King of Decay", "Red-Eyed Duke", "Wise Wolf", "Withered Elder of Ten Thousand Armies", "Devourer", "Yellow Specter".
