Shalltear Bloodfallen's Capture Mission
Vol. 3, Year 1 after the transfer (about day 10): ordered by Ainz to capture humans who know martial arts or magic, Shalltear used Sebas and Solution's decoy operation to raid the hideout of the mercenary band "Death-Spreading Sword Gang"; Brain escaped.
- Sebas and Solution posed as "a wealthy Imperial heiress and her butler", spending lavishly at E-Rantel's luxury inn "Golden Glow Pavilion" to lure out ill-intentioned people
- The coachman they hired, Zach, was actually an inside man for the Death-Spreading Sword Gang; Zach was ultimately dissolved and devoured by Solution
- The Death-Spreading Sword Gang was a mercenary band of about 70 based in a forest cave about 3 hours' walk from E-Rantel's north gate, usually working as bandits; Brain Unglaus joined it to cut people down
- Shalltear raided the cave with her Vampire Brides; the leader sent his men to fight and they were all easily slaughtered—everyone except Brain died; the women held captive in the cave were presumably rescued along with Brita (unverified)
- After crossing swords with Shalltear, Brain fell into utter despair and fled through an escape tunnel; he later recovered and helped Climb and others
- Outside the cave Shalltear also fought adventurers who had come, then encountered the Black Scripture and was mind-controlled by Kaire's World Item "Downfall of Castle and Country" (see other entries for details)
Notes
Japanese sources speculate that the name "Death-Spreading Sword Gang" may derive from the "Pegasus Knights" of Fire Emblem.
