Fireball / Lightning
Two signature 3rd-tier attack spells: [Fireball] is an area explosion, while [Lightning] pierces every target in a straight line; in the New World they are the trademark of skilled casters.
- [Fireball]: a head-sized fireball swells from the fingertip and bursts on impact, scattering flames that go around even raised shields (Vol. 1); Iguva=41 cast it when opponents came within 100 m, so its range is presumed about 100 m
- Web novel: higher magic power increases [Fireball]'s damage and range; divine casters can use it but fall short of arcane casters; [Fireball] is commonly used when crafting flaming magic weapons
- [Lightning]: pierces targets in a line, even passing through structures, so doors and the like cannot stop it (Vol. 2); the Dwarf Kingdom's Great Rift fortress exploits terrain where the drawbridge and fortress lie in a straight line, equipped with a magic item that has the same effect as [Lightning]
- Users: Narberal favors [Lightning] under the alias "Nabe", and Iguva=41 uses [Fireball]; "[Lightning] is Arche's strongest move" (unverified)
- Same-tier spells include [Electro Sphere] (area lightning) and [Thunder Sphere]
