Magic Systems

YGGDRASIL magic is broadly divided into four schools — arcane, divine, spiritual and other — further subdivided into systems such as defense, necromancy, the four elements and movement.
- The four schools are independent of one another; separate from class levels, each school's "spellcasting level" is calculated to determine usable tiers
- Example: arcane classes at level 60 plus divine classes at level 40 make level 100, yet still cannot use the 10th tier
- The same spell differs by school: even if a divine caster can cast 〈Fireball〉, their mana is not high, so its power and range fall short of the arcane version
- Fluder studies three schools at once, so classes that raise several schools simultaneously may exist
- In the New World, choosing one's magic all but decides one's life, so few learn low-priority detection and information spells
- The four schools are further subdivided into defense, necromancy, the four elements, movement and other systems
- Otherworldly beings such as angels and demons can use an ability with the same effect as 〈Dimensional Lock〉 as a skill; 〈Uriel〉 is a 10th-tier spell any school can learn once conditions are met, whose damage decreases as the caster's karma falls, and at karma −500 its attack power is below a 1st-tier spell's (13-267)
