Massacre at Domain Montserrat
Vol. 14, sometime in Years 3–5 after the transfer: after the capital fell, Albedo personally went to the domain of Philip, who had started the war, to settle accounts, executing his people and his fellow barons and taking Philip away.
- Philip was originally the third son of the minor noble house Montserrat; he became head of the house after his eldest brother died in the Katze Plains massacre, but his rule caused food production in the domain to fall
- Together with Baron Delvi and Baron Rokirlen of the same new faction, he attacked the Sorcerer Kingdom's food convoy aiding the Holy Kingdom, and this attack became the Sorcerer Kingdom's pretext for declaring war on the Kingdom
- Philip's actions bewildered Albedo and Demiurge into overthinking, and turned the Sorcerer Kingdom's policy of dealing with the Kingdom indirectly into a direct invasion
- After the capital fell, Philip refused to admit fault and shut himself in; Albedo went to his domain and disposed of him and the two barons along with their people, delivering the two barons' heads to Philip
- Philip was taken to the Frozen Prison on the 5th floor, his fate somewhere between life and death; in Vol. 15 Albedo is still "doing something" in the Frozen Prison
Notes
Among Japanese readers, "Philip" has become shorthand for "an idiot who thinks he's brilliant"; the character does not exist in the Web novel.
