Nine Worlds
YGGDRASIL's map consists of nine worlds formed from the nine leaves left on the World Tree, each about two or three times the size of Tokyo; three of them favor heteromorphs.
- The nine worlds: Asgard, Alfheim, Vanaheim, Nidavellir, Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim
- Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim favor heteromorphs and grow more dangerous toward the frontier; heteromorph players rarely leave these three worlds (BD bonus novel)
- Helheim: a world of eternal night and cold under black clouds; its frontier has the "Plain of Piercing Crystals" that hurts with every step, and about 100 m beyond lies the "Purple Poison Swamp", with the Grendel Swamp deep within, where Nazarick stands
- Web novel: Asgard has the "Sky Castle", a guild base rivaling Ainz Ooal Gown; the depths of Helheim hold the "Glacier Castle", and Muspelheim the "Birthplace of Fire Giants"
- Niflheim has the "Frozen Castle" that appears only in blizzards; the ocean zone "Noatun" allows undersea adventure, and its seafood has graced Nazarick's tables
- Teleport services connect the worlds and cities; entering a new area with a matching special ability (such as herbalism) yields extra information
Notes
The winner of each world's official tournament can become that world's "World Champion"; in the Web novel, Touch Me won the Alfheim tournament.
