Overlord

The top race for those who become undead magic casters—Ainz Ooal Gown's final race and the source of the series' title.
- Occasionally appears as a placed monster in YGGDRASIL's hardest dungeons, using the most vicious top-tier magic; as a monster it is at least level 80.
- Appearance: a skeletal mage with no skin or flesh, dark-red points of light burning in its hollow eye sockets, and a black halo behind its head (unverified).
- Related monsters: Overlord Wiseman (magic-specialized, level 90; Ainz can create one as a lieutenant by spending experience), Overlord Chronos Master (time-related abilities), Overlord General (skilled at commanding undead armies).
- Ainz's lineage in the light novels: Skeleton Mage 15 → Elder Lich 10 → (presumed Night Lich) → Overlord 5.
- Ainz's lineage in the Web novel: Skeleton Wizard 15 → Lich 10 → Demilich 5 → Overlord 10.
- In Japanese sources' racial level classification, Overlord falls under the "Skeleton Mage line", alongside Overlord Wiseman/Chronos Master/General (10-332) and the level-68 Spirit Skull (14-412)
- A "Night Lich" is a being surpassing the Elder Lich in the post-transfer world, able to use 6th-tier magic with high intelligence, top-tier among locals (side story-175); it is presumed to be Ainz's third race in the light novels
- An Elder Lich is a level-22 monster; per a Web novel comment reply, a Skeleton Mage of level 10+ holding a "Book of the Dead", or a magic class of level 30+ holding Necronomicon-type books and clearing a specific event, can become an Elder Lich (4-210)
Notes
"Demilich" is a D&D monster of the same name; the light novels' change to "Night Lich" may have been for copyright reasons.
