Kyouhukou
Area Guardian of the 2nd Floor's "Black Capsule", the "Worst Residence" of the Five Worst · Nazarick: Area Guardians & Other NPCs · Heteromorphic (an upright cockroach about 30 cm tall) · Lv 30
Personality
Refers to himself with the archaic "wagahai" and speaks with impeccable courtesy; a gentleman, and quite normal by Nazarick standards. He is set to hold the rank of duke, and the author has said he is "not evil." Cocytus is his good friend, but most of Nazarick's women do not welcome him.
Abilities
- Excels at summoning his kin, calling up cockroaches of various sizes (large ones about a meter) to swamp enemies
- Mainly inflicts psychological damage; in the YGGDRASIL era he drove dozens of a 1,500-strong raid party into confusion and killing each other, or forced them to log out
- Wears a crimson cape with gold trim and a crown, and carries a scepter set with a white gem
- In the Web novel he has a riding golem, the "Silver Golem Cockroach" (Lv70); Vol. 14 of the light novel hints that there is a golem in his room too
History
- His direct superior is Shalltear, Guardian of the 2nd Floor
- Vol. 6: Gives the captured Eight Fingers leaders a "baptism": his kin devour them from inside while they are healed so they cannot die (Vol. 6 p. 425)
- Vol. 7: Gringham of the invading worker team "Heavy Masher" and a fellow thief are sent into the Black Capsule by a teleport trap; negotiations fail and they are swallowed by a wave of his kin
- Web novel: In charge of patrolling Nazarick's surroundings with his kin, and together with Arche coached Ainz in dancing and etiquette for an Imperial ball
Trivia
The Vol. 7 two-page spread crammed with cockroaches was the author's own idea; the 2024 "Overlord Exhibition" actually displayed the Black Capsule.
