Zaryusu Shasha
Green Claw Tribe traveler / "Strongest Lizardman Warrior" · Other Factions · Lizardman · Lv 20 (Vol. 4 data; level dropped after he died in battle and was resurrected)
Personality
Intelligent and responsible; his elder brother even says he should be the chieftain. Calm and far-sighted, able to make ruthless decisions for the greater good (he once viewed the war as a way to reduce the population and survive a food shortage). At the same time he is straightforward and hot-blooded, falling for Crusch at first sight and proposing on the spot.
Abilities
- Wields Frost Pain, an ice-element magic sword and one of the Four Treasures of the lizardmen
- Can use martial arts (types unknown; in the Web novel, "Fortress", "Whirlwind", "Eyes in the Back", etc.); appointed as Hamsuke's instructor in wearing armor and learning martial arts
- According to the author, he is stronger than Climb but weaker than Adamantite-class fighters such as Brain
- Learned fish farming on his travels and brought it back to his tribe; presumably received an adamantite chain shirt as a gift for the birth of his child
History
- A "Traveler" from the Green Claw Tribe. Frost Pain, one of the Four Treasures, originally belonged to the Razor Edge Tribe; after the Razor Edge Tribe's defeat the Green Claw Tribe took it, and he obtained and holds it as the one who defeated the Razor Edge chieftain (Japanese wiki timeline post-1389: defeated the Razor Edge chieftain and obtained Frost Pain); brought the fish farming he learned on his travels back to the tribe (background, Vol. 4)
- Vol. 4: After Nazarick declares war, he proposes uniting the tribes, persuades Crusch, acting chieftain of the Red Eye Tribe, and Zenberu, chieftain of the Dragon Tusk Tribe, and together with his companions kills the Elder Lich Iguva=41
- Fights to the death in the decisive battle against Cocytus; earning Cocytus's respect, he is resurrected and thereafter swears loyalty to Ainz
- Vol. 7: Trains at Nazarick and serves as Hamsuke's martial arts instructor
- Vol. 11: Married to Crusch, with a white-scaled child of unknown sex (some say a boy, unverified); declines Ainz's invitation to move to E-Rantel (unverified)
Trivia
After the anime aired, many viewers misheard his name as "Zariusu" (ザリウス), because the "ryu" sound gets swallowed.
