Katze Plains

A cursed plain southeast of E-Rantel, southwest of the Empire and northwest of the Dragon Kingdom, perpetually shrouded in a thin mist that registers as undead; a hotbed of undead, and the battlefield where the Kingdom and Empire fight every year.
- Almost no living creatures live there; the mist is harmless but registers as undead, rendering undead detection useless, so many adventurers are ambushed
- Undead gathering in the mist give rise to stronger individuals, even Skeletal Dragons; high-level undead may leave the plains to attack the living
- Only on the day the Kingdom and the Empire go to war does the mist clear and the undead vanish (reason unknown)
- Kingdom adventurers, Imperial knights and Workers clear them out together; the two nations jointly built a support base, the "Free City of Vadis" (name from the mobile game)
- The Empire spent several years building a huge fortress in the hills for attacking E-Rantel
- Collapsed buildings from centuries ago (originally a six-story spire and thick walls) remain on the plains
- Key events: the Massacre at Katze Plains; it later became Sorcerer Kingdom territory, and Momon found and tamed a ghost ship here
- Reader analysis: "Katze" is German for "cat," so the weathered ruins on the plains may be the remains of the YGGDRASIL guild "Great Kingdom of Lord Cat" (unverified)
- Vol. 9, pp. 207–209 describe weathered ruins on the plains
Notes
"Katze" means "cat" in German.
