Long Rain
A past disaster of the Roble Holy Kingdom (date unknown, mentioned at the start of Vol. 12): soon after the Great Wall was built, the demi-human Slaash crossed it in a night raid during a long rain and ravaged the Holy Kingdom.
- Recalled at the start of Vol. 12: the worst invasion the Holy Kingdom suffered after building the Great Wall, occurring during a period of long rains
- The invaders were the demi-human Slaash, with suction cups on their hands and long paralytic tongues; higher individuals can change skin color as if casting [Blend]
- Crossing the wall under cover of night, the Slaash pushed west, and many villages fell as a result
- Even now, rumors persist in the country that Slaash still lurk within the Holy Kingdom
- To prevent a repeat, the Holy Kingdom placed small forts at intervals along the Wall, overseen by several giant fortresses; the small forts hold to the death to buy time and call the fortresses for help with signal fires (rendered as smoke signals in the English translation)
- Sources regard this tragedy as the origin of the Holy Kingdom's Great Wall defense system and even its national mobilization order (the latter speculative)
- According to Japanese sources, there is no record of the Slaash following Jaldabaoth
Notes
"Long Rain" in the original simply refers to when the invasion happened (during the long rains), not an official name for the event.
