Gondo Firebeard

Rune developer / dwarf miner · Other Factions · Dwarf · Lv 11
Personality
His grandfather and father were both chief rune smiths, but he has no talent himself and is obsessed with reviving the declining rune craft. Gentle and rational, he worries about the young Aura. Though a dwarf, he doesn't drink a drop.
Abilities
- He says he has no talent as a rune smith; Ainz surmises he hit his level cap with the prerequisite classes plus Rune Smith Lv1
- Has no combat ability and avoids monsters using the invisibility cloak his father left him
- Knows the dwarf cities and the old royal capital well, serving as guide for Ainz's party
History
- Vol. 11: While working as a miner to fund his research, mining white iron steel in the temporarily abandoned city of Feo Raizo, he meets Ainz and Aura
- Vol. 11: When Ainz offers to fund rune research and bring all rune smiths to the Sorcerous Kingdom, he accepts, resolved that "even my soul would be cheap as the price"
- Returns to Feo Jura to help gather the other rune smiths and serves as guide to the old royal capital, Feo Berkana
- Witnesses Ainz subjugating the frost dragons, enters the royal castle's treasury, and secretly takes the arms his father made and books on rune techniques
- Afterward he moves with the rune smiths to the Sorcerous Kingdom (Carne Village) and works to revive rune craft ("thanked Ainz at a banquet" is unverified)
Trivia
The author has said that Gondo's and Neia Baraja's genders really should have been swapped.
