Humans in the New World

The New World's "Homo sapiens" went extinct long ago in the struggle for survival; what are now called humans are an inferior race driven onto the plains, nothing but food or slaves to the demi-humans.
- In the central continent six great demi-human nations vie for supremacy; many demi-human races far surpass humans in physical ability, and some (a certain kind of giant) are also more civilized than humans
- These powerful races failed to dominate the continent because 500 years ago the Eight Greed Kings tried to rule it, and the races' strength declined in the struggle; dragons too were sharply reduced by the Eight Greed Kings
- There are many human nations around Nazarick because the Slane Theocracy has for years secretly "thinned out" threatening demi-humans
- The author says that if the Slane Theocracy collapsed, the Kingdom, the Empire and the Holy Kingdom would soon be overrun by monsters
- Races of the human species can interbreed (e.g. half-elves, born of humans and elves), but the human species and demi-humans are thought unable to produce offspring
- Sources: the author mentions the extinction of Homo sapiens in the Vol. 2 afterword; compiled from the Japanese sources' "Post-Transfer World" page
- The troll nation in the central continent reportedly serves "a human fetus six months in the womb" as its finest delicacy for guests; the minotaur nation once regarded humans only as food
- The Slane Theocracy once held high hopes for the fertile, safe Kingdom as land that "could raise heroes to fight heteromorphs," but later gave up
