Level
In YGGDRASIL a character's level is the sum of racial levels and class levels, capped at 100; player characters are basically all level 100.
- The level cap is 100, made up of racial levels plus class levels
- Each race or class caps at only 15, 10 or 5 levels, so reaching level 100 requires stacking at least about seven races or classes
- In theory one could take 100 level-1 classes to reach 100, but it would be extremely inefficient and very weak
- Without a World Item it is impossible to reach level 100 on racial levels alone
- The author said in a Web novel reply to comments that leveling is easy up to 95, after which it gets hard without companions
- In the New World after the transfer, locals "are hailed as heroes at around level 30," a vast gap from level-100 players
- Experience can still be banked after level 100, with surplus capped at 0.9 levels' worth; the level gap with enemies affects experience gained, with a minimum of 1 point
- When leveling down, levels are removed starting from the last race/class acquired, and skills learned at that level are also lost (author's Twitter)
- Growth basically comes in two types: specialized or balanced; Touch Me is an abnormally strong balanced type, while Ainz is an exception who handles all situations with a wide range of spells and items left by his companions (Vol. 11)
Notes
The author regards "leveling up" as a kind of evolution. The only known being above level 100 is the "Dragon Emperor" (the Platinum Dragon Lord's father) mentioned on the author's Twitter, which is extra-canonical material.
