Talent

An innate special ability unique to the New World, held by about 1 in 200 people; it cannot be chosen or changed, and whether it suits its holder's abilities is pure luck.
- A setting added in the light novel; about 1 in 200 people have one, ranging from everyday conveniences like "weather forecasting" to combat-specialized abilities like "magic aptitude"
- 3rd-tier spiritual magic can determine whether someone has a talent, but finding out what it is requires higher-tier magic
- Some discover their talent by standing under waterfalls or entering a trance by inhaling safe drugs; Brain did not even know he had one
- Most confirmed holders are of the human species, though the author says demi-humans have them too
- The super-tier spell 〈Wish Upon a Star〉, whose effects are enhanced in the New World, can take away a talent
- Everyday talents listed in sources: forecasting tomorrow's weather with 70% accuracy, making grass-family crops ripen a few days early, knowing the temperature of hot water, and walking about five steps on water (Vols. 2 and 12)
- In the Web novel Jiet's talent sees through all illusions (he can only see through them, not dispel them, and the caster notices something is off)
- Only in Vol. 14 is Brain's talent revealed to be an increased capacity for concentration, which he himself has not noticed
Notes
Sources consider Evileye's talent (storing and casting any one spell she has seen, even super-tier magic or Wild Magic) and the Extra Seat's talent to be among "the continent's top ten."
