Gazef Stronoff

Warrior Captain of the Kingdom, "the Kingdom's strongest warrior" · Re-Estize Kingdom · Human · Lv Unknown
Personality
A warrior of common birth, honest and upright, with extraordinary loyalty to King Ramposa III. He is willing to stake his life to protect the people, knows how to respect the strong, and keeps his courtesy even toward enemies.
Abilities
- Publicly acknowledged as the strongest warrior among the surrounding nations, though he has not yet crossed the wall of heroes; with the Dragon's Treasure ring he can step into the Realm of Heroes
- Can activate up to six martial arts at once; his signatures are Fourfold Light Slash and Sixfold Light Slash, already devised by the time of the royal tournament; he also inherited an unnamed "ultimate martial art" from Vesture
- Has mastered martial arts such as Flowing Water Acceleration, Instant Reflex and Possibility Perception; his fighting style is practical above all, using fists and feet as well
- Can equip four of the Kingdom's five treasures: the Amulet of Immortality, the Guardian armour, the Gauntlet of Vitality and Razor Edge
History
- Of common birth, he worked as a mercenary; he won the royal tournament after a fierce final against Brain and became the king's guard, then was all but forcibly taken on as a disciple by the former adamantite-rank adventurer Vesture and inherited his ultimate martial art (background)
- While pursuing knights who had attacked villages he meets Ainz in Carne Village; ambushed by the Sunlight Scripture, he is saved when Ainz swaps places with him (Vol. 1)
- Takes in the dispirited Brain; during the unrest in the Royal Capital he is ordered to assist the adventurers against Jaldabaoth (Vols. 5-6)
- After the massacre on the Katze Plains he refuses Ainz's offer to recruit him, requests a duel and says he does not wish to be revived; Ainz kills him instantly with Time Stop followed by instant-death magic, and immediately halts the attack on the Kingdom army (Vol. 9)
- From a conversation between Renner and Tina it can be inferred that the king asked Lakyus to revive him without success - Ainz had already explained in Vol. 9 that his instant-death magic nullifies low-tier resurrection magic (Vol. 10)
Trivia
The post of "Warrior Captain" was specially created by the king because the nobles opposed granting him a knighthood; readers also use him as a unit of combat power, "1 Gazef".
