Ramposa III

King of the Re-Estize Kingdom · Re-Estize Kingdom · Human · Lv Unknown
Personality
Merciful, wishing only to leave behind a country where his people can live well, and not given to personal greed; but too kind, he missed the moment to abdicate out of pity for his eldest son. He trusted Gazef deeply and broke down in grief at news of his death. Zanac judges him "merciful, but that's all", yet good at gathering people more capable than himself.
Abilities
- Reigned 39 years, keeping the country from splitting while caught between the noble faction and the royal faction
- According to Zanac he is good at gathering people more capable than himself; the one he trusted most was Gazef
- An old war wound damaged his knee, and he walks with a cane
History
- Hears Gazef's report on Carne Village and Ainz Ooal Gown, and, weary of the nobles' power struggles and formalities at court, mutters "I envy the Empire" (Vol. 3); the matter of apologizing for not having equipped Gazef with the treasures (unverified)
- In the Demonic Disturbance in the Royal Capital, on Renner's advice he personally leads Gazef's Warrior Troop into battle, giving the royal faction the upper hand, but upsetting the balance between the factions (Vol. 6)
- At the Battle of the Katze Plains the Kingdom army is massacred by Ainz's magic and he barely escapes death; after the war he cedes E-Rantel, breaks down on learning of Gazef's death, asks Lakyus to resurrect him without success (possibly Gazef himself refused), and in his anger injures her face; whether a literal or figurative wound is unclear (Vols. 9–10, 10-158)
- After Philip attacks a Sorcerer Kingdom food convoy, he offers his own head in apology to Albedo, who has come to declare war, and is refused; because he clings to diplomacy, Zanac and others place him under house arrest (Vol. 14)
- As the Royal Capital is about to fall, he follows Renner's advice to "hide the Kingdom's symbols" and entrusts the crown and other treasures to Climb; he then turns up as a corpse in the Throne Room, presumably killed by Renner with Razor Edge (Vol. 14)
Trivia
In the Vol. 14 afterword the author calls him "the man who beat Albedo": his offer of his head as an apology exceeded Albedo's predictions.
